I Love Living Here, But It’s The Sox All The Way

The excitement wasn’t the same watching the games out here as it was when I was living in Boston in ‘04, but overall, this championship meant more to me as a fan.

Whiffleball experience aside, I really only played (and followed) hockey growing up as a kid, and was a casual Red Sox fan in pretty much name only. It wasn’t until seeing a couple of very exciting Sox / A’s playoff games while living in California during ‘03 that I got hooked on watching the team more closely.

2004 was amazing and I consider myself lucky to have picked that season to really start rooting for the team. I stuck with them in ‘05 and ‘06 - my interest actually growing from year to year as I learned more about the game itself - and I watched almost every game this year in ‘07.

More than a lot of sports, baseball really rewards the fan who learns and appreciates its finer points, especially over the course of the 162 game season. 2007, with all of its ups and downs, was no exception.

I was happy to have been right when I called the sweep of the world series with 2 games still to go against Cleveland. You could just tell with this team.

So, the Sox are looking good for years to come, the Yankees are blowing up their franchise piece by piece, and baseball is once again fashionable here in Colorado.

I’m already looking forward to next season.
