Cool LinkedIn Hack

LinkedIn is only as powerful as the size and reach of your network as you can only see the profile details of the people within three degrees of separation of you. I’ve got 150 or so first degree connections and that would ordinarily translate into about 10,000 people in my entire network.

Last week I added a couple of “super networkers” to my network and their connections increased the size of my network to over 4 million people. I now have direct access to 20% of the entire LinkedIn userbase and to probably well over 50% of the active users.

How is this useful? Well, for example, I just helped a friend here in Boulder find the exact person (out of over 17,000 employees) that he was looking for at Google by searching for the department and product that matched up with his business. 5 minutes, a few mouse clicks, a friendly email, and the introduction was made (and quickly responded to).

Even better, I didn’t have burn up any of my professional capital with my contacts at Google by hassling them to dig through their employee directory and have them make a (less powerful) intro for a “friend of a friend.”

As someone who has been involved in sales and biz dev in some capacity throughout my entire career, LinkedIn is shaping up to be a very powerful tool.

Here are the top 3 guys to add if you want to juice up your network as well:

Ron Bates :: Andrew Filipowski :: Marc Freedman

(View their full profile, click “add to your network” and enter “MyLink500″ as the way that you know them. They all added me, no questions asked, within a day or two.)

Hitting The Reset Button

reset_button.jpgFinally had a bit of free time and energy today to begin the complete overhaul of all-things-adam-online. From now on, just about everything that I have on the web will now flow through this site in some way or another.

I’ve enjoyed branching out and developing lots of new things over the past year, but lately it’s become too hard to keep everything updated in a timely manner. Now’s the time to pull in the reigns and connect the dots, so to speak…

Enjoy….
